Mechanism & Release

Each capsule contains approximately 300–400 micro-pellets with an enteric (gastro-resistant) coating.
• The pellets pass intact through the stomach.
• Iron is released in the duodenum, where absorption is optimal.
• Designed to improve tolerability and iron uptake.


Indications / Uses

Indicated for:

• Iron deficiency (with or without anemia)
• Iron deficiency anemia
• Increased iron requirements (pregnancy, breastfeeding)
• Conditions with chronic blood loss
• Replenishment of depleted iron stores


Composition (Excipients)

May include:
• Methacrylic acid–ethyl acrylate copolymer (enteric coating)
• Microcrystalline cellulose
• Ascorbic acid
• Talc
• Triethyl citrate
• Hypromellose
• Polysorbate 80
• Sodium lauryl sulfate
• Gelatin
• Titanium dioxide
• Iron oxides


Dosage & Administration

Standard dosage (Adults and children ≥6 years & ≥20 kg):
• 1 capsule (100 mg) once daily, preferably in the morning.

In more severe deficiency (as directed by physician):
• 2–3 capsules daily may be used initially.

Administration guidelines:
• Take on an empty stomach (about 1 hour before meals)
or
• At least 2 hours before or after food for optimal absorption.

If swallowing is difficult, the capsule may be opened and pellets taken with water (do not chew).

Duration of treatment:
Typically 3–6 months or longer, continuing after normalization of hemoglobin to restore iron stores.


Precautions

• Do not use in iron overload conditions (e.g., hemochromatosis).
• Keep out of reach of children (risk of iron overdose).
• May cause gastrointestinal discomfort, constipation, or dark stools.
• Avoid simultaneous intake with calcium, antacids, or dairy products.
